Private Detail Request

Private businesses requesting to perform roadway and/or utility work, which will require the closing of any travel lane on a major roadway, will be required to hire a certified traffic control person or a police officer.

Private businesses and government entities wishing to enter into an agreement with the department for hiring police officers to work special details for a fee may make requests by completing a Detail Request Agreement, and forwarding it to the Hudson Police Department day shift Lieutenant for review and approval.

The Department may turn down or revoke special details that constitute a conflict of interest, expose employees to high risk of injury, constitute a threat to the status or dignity of the police department, or for any other considerations relevant to the nature of the extra-duty assignment.

Officers can be requested for the following types of special duty:

    1. Traffic control and pedestrian safety.
    2. Security and protection of life or property.
    3. Keep the Peace.
    4. Town events.
    5. Plain clothes assignments.
    6. Crowd Control.

The cost of a detail is $40.00 per hour for an officer and/or $55.00 per hour for an officer with a police cruiser. There is a four hour minimum for details and all details must be paid in full at the Town Hall Finance Department before a detail will be assigned.
